A. A. Milne (1882 — 1956) is an author of plays, novels, poetry, short stories, and essays, but his children’s books are the most popular of all he wrote.
In 1924 his book of verses for children 'When We Were Very Young' was published and it at once became well-known . It was followed by the great success of 'Winnie-The-Pooh' (1926). A.A. Milne made up a timeless world with Pooh, Piglet and the others in 'Hundred-Acre Wood' which became unforgettable reading for children.
The settings for his stories were drawn from life and the animals were mostly toys from the nursery of his son, the Cristopher Robin of the stories.
His other books for children 'Now We Are Six' and 'The House at Pooh Comer' were also very successful.
